Build one packet that contains an awkward day

Use the fictional Cedar Studio packet below without changing its wording between candidates. It contains one client project, two team members and an unresolved date change. Copy each row into a separate document or record with its identifier intact. Keep a separate unchanged copy so you can compare every answer with the input.

Add a deliberate conflict: the proposal says delivery is 12 November, while a later email asks for 15 November without recording acceptance. The accepted 12 November date remains the agreed baseline until a confirmed change replaces it. The 15 November request must remain pending. Also leave one question unanswered, such as the client's final purchase order reference. These gaps let you observe whether a person or an assistant preserves uncertainty instead of inventing an answer.

The packet and both contact addresses are fictional examples. The original table is preserved unchanged in the legacy source.

  • Identifier: CED-P01; Date: 2026-11-02; Record content: Accepted proposal for Cedar Studio project CED-01: prepare one two-page service brochure for client Maple Works. Client lead Rowan accepted this proposal by email on 2 November. The agreed delivery date is 12 November 2026. Jules owns the project; Morgan covers when Jules is away. The purchase order reference has not been supplied.
  • Identifier: CED-E02; Date: 2026-11-05; Record content: From Rowan at Maple Works to Jules. Subject: Brochure date. Could we move delivery to 15 November instead? Please confirm whether that works. This packet contains no reply accepting the requested date change.
  • Identifier: CED-V02; Date: 2026-11-06; Record content: Brochure proof version 2 for project CED-01: two pages, cover headline Maple Works services, draft contact address hello@example.com. Status: awaiting client review. This record contains no approval.
  • Identifier: CED-N03; Date: 2026-11-07; Record content: Internal handoff from Jules to Morgan: please revise the contact address on CED-V02 to office@example.com. Save the revision as a new version and ask Rowan to review it. Do not mark the revised proof approved. The requested 15 November date is still awaiting our confirmation.
  • Identifier: CED-T01; Date: 2026-11-07; Record content: Task linked to project CED-01 and proof CED-V02. Owner: Morgan. Next action: prepare the address revision described in CED-N03. Status: open. No final purchase order reference appears anywhere in this packet.

Define the result before running the task

Write down what would count as useful evidence before a vendor changes the example for you. For the date conflict, an acceptable result keeps 12 November as the current agreed date, shows 15 November as an unaccepted request and identifies who should confirm the change. For the purchase order question, an acceptable result says the reference is absent from the packet. A fluent answer without an inspectable basis remains unverified.

Keep the candidate's plan, permissions and setup conditions beside each result. A feature available in a vendor's demonstration account may need a different subscription or configuration in yours. If you cannot run a task, record why it is blocked. Leave the outcome unknown rather than awarding a pass for a promised future feature.

Follow the work through a change of owner

Ask the first team member to record that the proof needs a revision, with a named owner and a next action. Then ask the second person to continue from the saved material without a spoken explanation. Inspect whether the revision refers to the correct proof and whether the later date request remains unresolved. A task marked complete should describe what actually happened; a comment asking for a change is not approval of the next version.

For example, Notion describes search across workspace and connected sources with citations, while Filestage describes reviewer access and version approval based on permissions. Check the relevant plan and test each behavior in the account you would use.

Check whether the trial can leave the tool

Before buying, retrieve the records you created and inspect what you actually receive. Check whether the exported data preserves the source identifier, ownership and relationship between the project and its next action. Keep any missing history or attachments in the result column. An export file that opens successfully may still be insufficient to continue the work elsewhere.

HubSpot's import documentation describes mapping identifiers and associations between objects. That is a useful prompt for checking relationships during a trial, not a universal migration guarantee. Use the same packet for each candidate and compare observable results. If your existing spreadsheet and folders handle the packet adequately, keeping them is a legitimate outcome.

Use the worksheet to make the decision explicit

Download the trial worksheet, replace the fictional material with a permitted sample and add one row per task for each candidate. Record the actual result separately from the expected result, including a source or saved observation that another person can inspect. Use pass, fail, blocked or unknown consistently; unknown means the trial did not establish an answer.

Agree which failures prevent adoption before comparing the candidates. A missing relationship may matter more to your work than a shorter route through a menu. Retest a failure only after a relevant setup or product change, and keep the earlier observation. The worksheet supports a reasoned choice; its rows are not a scoring model or a claim of measured productivity.

Using Areinum

Give Areinum Assistant the fictional company packet or another permitted test packet and ask it to identify the latest agreed decision, the open task and the missing reference. Compare the response with the actual source records as part of your own trial.

  1. The rows use fictional data and contain expected outcomes, not measured product results. Keep an unchanged copy of your input packet.
  2. Duplicate the rows for each candidate. Record the plan, account permissions and setup in your trial notes before testing.
  3. Replace Not run only after observing the task. Use Unknown when evidence is insufficient and Blocked when setup prevents the trial.
  4. Save the actual output or source reference in Evidence to save. Agree adoption blockers before comparing results.

Limits of this method

  • This trial script is a proposed manual method. It is not a comparative benchmark, security assessment or guarantee of future behavior.
  • Run only tasks and data you are authorized to use. A blocked or unknown result remains unresolved until you inspect evidence.

Questions you may have

Is the later delivery date in the sample already agreed?

No. The fictional client requested the later date, and the packet contains no acceptance. Keep the agreed date and the request distinct.

Does a revised proof inherit the earlier version's approval?

Check the specific proof and its recorded decision. In the example, the revised version still needs review.

What should a candidate do when the purchase order reference is missing?

Say the reference is absent from the supplied packet and identify who could confirm it. Do not invent a value to complete the task.

Is Areinum guaranteed to pass this trial?

Use the same packet and checks for every candidate. Record the observed result, including any blocked or unknown step, before deciding.
