# AI for tire shops: trace a stored set from intake to collection

Two stored sets belong to the same household. One booking uses a customer name while the storage register uses a vehicle reference. Before bringing a set out for collection, the team needs to match the booking to the correct physical label.
AI can compare the booking reference with the storage register and produce a collection list. Where two sets could match, staff see the ambiguity before retrieving one and check the physical label and technical suitability.

## Illustrative example (fictional)

The owner's request: Which set can we prepare for this booking?

Information provided:
- Fictional customer C-2 has sets TS-11 and TS-12.
- Tomorrow's booking names C-2 but does not identify a set or vehicle.

Example result: The booking is not specific enough to choose between the two sets. Both remain candidates until staff confirm the intended reference.

The next step: The office checks the booking and the team verifies the selected physical label.

## Identify the stored set

Use the set identifier from the intake record and keep the associated vehicle or customer reference. Do not merge sets simply because an address or surname matches. Where a label and register disagree, make that discrepancy explicit for a physical check.

## Prepare the collection list

Connect each confirmed booking to the set ID and recorded location. Keep a proposed appointment distinct from a confirmed one. If the location is missing, assign a stock check rather than assuming the set remains in its previous bay.

## Record the actual handover

Retain the collection or installation record against the same set identifier. A moved set is not necessarily handed to the customer. Record the actual outcome and any remaining stored items so the register can be reconciled at the end of the shift.

## Work you can get help with

Illustrative scenario using sample information.

### Identify the stored set

What you provide: Set IDs, intake record and storage labels.
The useful result: A matching list with duplicate or uncertain references.
When the task is complete: Staff confirm the physical set against its checked record.

### Prepare the collection list

What you provide: Booking confirmations, set references and storage locations.
The useful result: A collection preparation list with location gaps.
When the task is complete: The team locates and checks the intended sets.

### Record the actual handover

What you provide: Prepared set list and staff handover records.
The useful result: A reconciliation of prepared, issued and still-stored sets.
When the task is complete: Staff confirm the register reflects the physical handovers.

## Questions you may have

### Can a customer name identify a set on its own?

Not reliably when more than one set is linked to that person. Use the checked set identifier.

### Does this decide which tires are safe to fit?

No. Technical inspection and fitment decisions remain with qualified staff.
