# AI for recruiters: resolve the role brief before the search starts

The hiring manager adds a location requirement in a message, but the approved role brief still describes remote work. Recruiters need an explicit decision before changing the search or giving candidates conflicting information.
AI can compare the hiring manager's latest comments with the accepted vacancy brief and prepare the decision needed from the client. Recruiters then work from the same requirements; this check does not rank applicants.

## Illustrative example (fictional)

The owner's request: Which location requirement should the team use?

Information provided:
- Fictional role R-5 has an accepted remote-work brief.
- A manager asks whether office attendance could be added; no decision follows.

Example result: The office requirement is a proposal. The accepted brief remains the recorded basis until the client confirms a change.

The next step: The recruiter asks the client to resolve the requirement before changing the search.

## Separate requirements from preferences

Use the client's confirmed brief and distinguish essential criteria from preferences where the client has done so. An exploratory comment should not become a new filter by default. Keep unanswered questions visible before the search team relies on the brief.

## Record the effect of a change

Record which requirement in the vacancy brief changed, when it was approved and which earlier candidate conversations used the previous version.

## Prepare consistent communication

Draft the factual update needed by people already involved in the process, using the client's approved wording. Keep internal deliberation separate from candidate-facing facts. A prepared update is not evidence that everyone received it.

## Work you can get help with

Illustrative scenario using sample information.

### Separate requirements from preferences

What you provide: Accepted vacancy brief and hiring-manager comments.
The useful result: A requirements list with tentative changes separated.
When the task is complete: The client confirms the working requirements.

### Record the effect of a change

What you provide: Brief versions, explicit change decision and effective date.
The useful result: A change record for the search team.
When the task is complete: The responsible recruiter confirms the updated brief and affected work.

### Prepare consistent communication

What you provide: Approved change, recipient groups and communication status.
The useful result: A consistent update draft and follow-up list.
When the task is complete: The recruiter records the actual communication and any unresolved question.

## Questions you may have

### Can this rank applicants?

No. The workflow clarifies the job brief and communication, not candidate suitability.

### Should the latest comment overwrite the brief?

Only after its meaning and authority are clear. Preserve the decision and previous version.

- [Connecting hiring managers and recruiters](https://business.linkedin.com/hire/resources/talent-strategy/recruiter-hiring-manager-relationships): LinkedIn describes an intake meeting between a recruiter and hiring manager, recording requirements and qualifications in a form, and agreeing on priorities, timelines, and responsibilities. The guide does not establish formal approval of brief versions or a change log. It is not a basis for automated assessment of candidates. (2026-11-04)
